SSAT: Secondary School Admissions Test
What is it?
The Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) measures your ability to solve mathematics problems, use language and comprehend what you read. It is part of the admissions process for many boarding and military schools throughout the world. The test is administered on two levels:
- Lower level: For students currently in the 5th, 6th & 7th grade.
- Upper level: For students currently in the 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th grade.
The test is made up of four sections:
- Verbal (tests knowledge of vocabulary)
- Quantitative (tests general mathematics knowledge)
- Reading comprehension
- Essay
The first three are included in your overall score. The essay is sent with your total score to the high school you have applied to.
